Welcome to Term 2 2014.

This term we are investigating food and the changes that happen to it.
In Room 1 we have lots of ideas about how food is made and wanted to investigate them for ourselves.
Check out our first 'experiment' making jelly.

Everyone tasted the raspberry jelly crystals.
MacKay loves the taste they are sweet and sugary.

We added hot water and we could smell the lime jelly.

It was then time to stir until all of the crystals were dissolved.

After we put the jelly in the fridge it set and went wobbly.

Jan then gave us some orange and lime jelly.

Room 1 loves taking part in Electives.

 Libby is taking part in the gardening elective and here she is doing a fantastic job transplanting seedlings.

Annaliese is making Shrek the Sheep in Wool Art.

Sam is filling pots with soil ready to plant the seedlings into during his Gardening Elective.

Abigail is putting layers of paper on her balloon in preparation for making her money box.

Emma is concentrating while making her Easter Basket. I hope she fills it with lots of Easter Eggs.

 Hannah is getting ready to make her chocolate truffles in cooking for her electives. Yum! Yum!

 Owen and Ryan sanded then hammered together their pieces of timber in carpentry.

 Breea is full of concentration while making her Easter Basket. Perhaps she is thinking about all of the yummy Easter treats to go into it.

Creating Time with Room 1 and 8

There was lots of sawing and hammering during creating time.

Room 1 has started the year enthusiastically. We have been busy in the classroom, at the pool and outside. These shots were taken when we were taking "environmental" pictures for the A&P Art Competition.

Decorating the Room 1 Christmas Tree.

Room 1 was busily decorating the class christmas tree today with the help of our wonderful Room 8 buddies. Doesn't the tree look absolutely fantastic with all of its tinsel.

 During this term Room 1 have been recreating artworks by famous artists. Have a look at the great time we had with Action Painting just like Jackson Pollack. Samantha and Bailey even managed to get some in their hair!!
